Description
A workman in the reception hall of Leslie C. Brand's former home, El Miradero. The large wood fireplace is known for its dominate hood. A carved shield surrounded by foliage ornaments the front and an egg-and-dart molding and dentil courses decorates the crown. The workman is putting the final touches on the wood bookshelves that replaced the firebox and hearth. At the time of this photograph, El Miradero is being converted into a library and this room will serve as the main entrance and circulation desk area. The renovation took place during the mid-1950s, and the library opened in 1956. Title supplied by cataloger.
