Description
One woman and twelve men identified as Portuguese farmers are grouped behind rows of harvested sweet potatoes. They appear to be drinking wine as a toast to celebrate the abundant crop. Mounds of potato vines can be seen on the field. Portuguese immigrants, many from the Azorean Islands began to settle in 1901 near Turlock, California.
