Description
Oversized book with a spiral binding that describes the planning and development of the planned community of Mission Viejo. The book has many illustrations, including maps and population charts. There are pictures of the Board of Directors of the Mission Viejo Company. The city's housing, shopping centers, schools, churches, and recreational activities in the late 1960s are also described. On the title page is the following statement from Philip J. Reilly, president of the Mission Viejo Company, "Mission Viejo Company was formed in November of 1963 for the purpose of developing lands in Orange County, California. The Company prepared a general plan of development for the westerly 11,000 acres of the 53,000-acre O'Neill Ranch. It developed a marketing and implementation program to construct a balanced community for 80,000 people. After the completion of planning and initial preparatory engineering construction, homes were put on the market in November of 1965. In three years $65,000,000 in construction has been completed and more than 8,000 people have moved into the new town created by Mission Viejo Company. This is the story behind the growth. This is the story of Mission Viejo- where it is, how it was planned, how the plan was implemented and is being implemented. This is the story of a plan that works. Philip J. Reilly, President."
