Description
Henry Fitch Gardner home on the twenty-acre ranch that ran from La Veta Avenue to Santiago Creek along South Glassell Street, Orange, California, ca. 1890. Image shows view of vine-covered home, built ca. 1875 with Henry Fitch and three children standing to right of home, a woman [Emma, Mrs. Gardner?] sitting with other children in front of the home, and a young boy standing just behind a tree to the left. Henri Fitch Gardner was one of the earliest pioneers of Orange, arriving in 1873, and a member of the city's original board of trustees, which later became the City Council, serving from the incorporation of the city in 1888 until 1894. The home is now the site of Holy Family Cathedral. Front of mount board stamped across bottom with "Residence Of H.F. Gardner".
