Accession number: P4088 Printed on the lower, right corner of the mount board "Mushet, Los Angeles." Portrait of James Miller Guinn, Anaheim school principal who arrived in Anaheim in 1869 and in 1877 drafted legislation authorizing the school district to issue bonds in the amount of $10,000 to build the two-story school (where George Washington School later stood); image shows a bust-length view of Mr. Guinn with a beard, wearing a dark jacket, white shirt and dark bow tie; handwritten below the portrait "James Miller Guinn, 1870."
