Description
View of one of the first fruit orchards to be established after irrigation water became available in 1900. Between the tree saplings are plantings of melons, spaced to allow the leaves and vines room to spread and the melons to grow. These were an annual cash crop especially needed as it took three to five years before peach and apricot trees bore fruit. Dirt clods (clumps) indicate the field was plowed prior to planting. To the rear can be seen the framhouse and barn. Verso: Blewett; Nelson Place, Geer Road.
