Description
The two story brick building on the right was built by Jesse Santos. The sign above the doorway awning indicates a coffee shop. The building also housed a saloon and the first public library. The Turlock Rochdale Co. building is adjacent to the Santos building. It was the local incorporated co-operative that was supplied by the Rochdale Wholesale Company in San Francisco. Most of the transport in the photograph is horse drawn wagons, however the first vehicle parked on the left side of the street is an early truck. Verso: 1912 Looking East on West Main from Lander.
