Description
On the night of the first Commerce City Council was sworn into office, Captain Clarence E. Serrano of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's department, the Department's first liaison with the City of Commerce, presented all five Council members with badges and declared them to be "noncompensated deputies" of the Sheriff's Department. From left are Serrano, Councilman James Bristow, Councilwomen Leone Thornburg and Katherine Pahl.
