Description
Depicted here is the 1935 Tamalpais School for Boys track team. This school took over the site of the Hitchcock Military Academy in 1925. As a private, non-sectarian and non-military institution, it taught grades six through twelve and considered itself a preparatory school for college bound students. The school was equipped with a gymnasium, a swimming pool, a rifle range and other amenities for a variety of other outdoor sports, including track. The school was sold in 1955 to the Marist Society of California and named the St. Peter Chanel Seminary. Today the property is home to Marin Ballet School, the Marin Tennis Club and Trinity Community Church.
