ADA DOUGHERTY, DAUGHTER OF JAMES AND ELIZABETH. Ada Dougherty was born in Mississippi in 1845. Arriving with her family in California at seven years of age, she grew up in a world of limitless possibilities. Her life was cut short, however, when she unexpectedly died in 1866 at the age of 21.
