Description
The man holding the roll of blueprints is identified as John J. Vignolo. To his left is Swan Wakefield, the contractor for building the Vignolo Building. Built on the site of the Turlock Hotel, the new building would house the Hotel Carolyn and small offices. Much construction took place in Turlock at this time and new ordinances required the use of brick after a series of fires destroyed most of the older wooden buildings. Note how the crew has braced and spaced the wood frame around the perimeter into which they will pour concrete for the foundation of the building.
