Description
DONNA KOLB, c. 1920s. Donna Kolb, here a young child, feeds one of the sheep she was responsible for on her family's property. Many of the children who grew up on the family farms were expected to do their share of the work. Not only did they feed the animals, but they also worked the fields, harvested crops, and prepared family meals. Though the hours spent each day helping to keep the farm running were difficult, sharing in the burden kept family ties strong.
