Description
This brick building (shown as being used by the Fire Department) was first used as the Public Library (2nd floor only) in 1899. In 1906 is was heavily damaged by the earthquake, and was subsequently used as the City Hall, the Fire Department, and the Police Department, with Municipal Court being held on the 2nd floor during the 1940s, 1950s, and 1960s. The building was located just south of 2nd Avenue on old Main Street, directly opposite the old Southern Pacific depot. The building was razed in 1975. Also shown are four fire engines (one ladder truck) and five firemen in uniform.
