Miraflores Locks, Panama Canal. Miraflores Locks are the first from the Pacific side of the Panama Canal. Looking down from the Miraflores Bridge on the east chamber as an Atlantic-bound ship goes through. Workers cross the lock gates in the foreground to the west chambers, which at this time are closed to traffic because of the annual cleaning of all lock chambers. the tops of lock gates are all used for cross-overs when closed before of after the passage of ships
