Description
The Kappa is known as the river goblin. It is said to cause swimming children to drown and to challenge people to sumo wrestling. It is also believed that horses or cattle that go into a river to drink or bathe are pulled into the water by the kappa and caused to drown. Kappa are mostly evil, but not always. When benevolent, the Kappa is supposedly a skilled teacher in the art of bone setting and other medical skills.
