Description
This shows the exterior of the San Luis Rey Mission built in 1798 and located in Oceanside, California. El Camino Real, which translates as The Royal Road ran up the coast of California connecting the 21 Missions. Any road established by the Spanish crown or under its jurisdiction was a “royal road,” but El Camino Real has become part of California’s history.
