Description
A long view of the palm tree-lined driveway leading to the newly opened Brand Library. The Brand Library is the art and music section of the Glendale Public Library. Photo dated February 1956 on the verso; this was the opening month of the library. A single driveway leads to the entry of the park and library. The Brand Library was once the home of Leslie C. Brand until his death in 1925 and his wife, Mary Louise Brand, until her death in 1945. Brand deeded his home and property to the City of Glendale to be converted into a public library and park. In the far distance, on the left, the chauffeur’s house and the greenhouse are barely visible. Title supplied by cataloger.
