E. view of the August Langenberger adobe on Rancho San Juan Cajon de Santa Ana about 1890. Two story building with a porch and large balcony is visible. A horse is tethered outside. People are visible along the porch and balcony. Many doors and windows are visible in the adobe structure due to the fact that lumber was available at the time. A note is on the front: "This adobe house erected by Don Augusto Langenberger at Anaheim, California, A. D. 1858, situated on San Pedro Street (now Center Street). Walls of this adobe house were four feet thick. It contained twelve rooms. The building served as a residence, general merchandise store, bank, and office of Wells Fargo & Company Express. It was the principal trading post between Mission San Gabriel and Mission San Juan Capistrano. Don Augusto Langenberger settled in this country in the year 1849, and married here senorita Maria Petra Ontiveros, daughter of Don Pacifico Ontiveros." This home was later demolished in 1919.
