Description
The Silver Star Metal was awarded posthumously to Pfc. Mitsugi Ben Takamoto who was killed in action during the Korean War, July 29, 1951. The Silver Star is the third highest military award designated solely for heroism in combat. It is awarded for distinguished gallantry in action against an enemy of the United States or while serving with friendly forces against an opposing enemy force.
