Description
Participants in the pistol shoot on the Kent estate in Kentfield, California, gather around the targets. The Kentfield Pistol Shoot was conceived by Albert E. Kent (son of William Kent) in 1929 and was sponsored by the Kentfield Chamber of Commerce. It attracted teams from all over California including the San Francisco Traffic Police team, the California National Guard Artillery, and the Los Angeles Police Pistol team. When Albert Kent died in 1933, a perpetual "Albert Kent Memorial Trophy" was created for the event. After 1936, when the subdivision of the Kent property was beginning, the pistol shoot was moved to the Tamalpais Revolver Club in Santa Venetia, near San Rafael, California.
