Description
Located at Forsyth Vineyard property, 3 1/2 miles NE of Fresno. Forsyth (1850-1910), a native of Toronto, Canada, arrived in California in 1875 and became a prominent hotelier in Sacramento. He purchased and first planted the Fresno vineyard property during 1883, and eventually left the hotel business to pursue strictly agricultural interests, including a large fruit packing house in Fresno. His first raisin crop was produced in 1887. Forsyth's vineyard was said to be one of the most productive in California, and his residence one of the most beautiful in Fresno County.
