Accession number: P155 See accession number P154 for photograph of Mother Colony House. Mother Colony House, Anaheim; built in 1857 by George Hansen, who sold the house to Francisco Rodriguez in 1863; moved in 1928 from the corner of Los Angeles (now Anaheim Blvd.) and Sycamore Streets to 414 North West Street; dedicated as a museum on March 14, 1929, making it the oldest museum in Orange County; deeded to the city of Anaheim by the Daughters of the American Revolution in 1954; image shows sign [which is posted to left of front door] which reads "This house was built in 1857 by Mr. Geo. Hansen the promoter of that little colony of Germans who founded what is now the City of Anaheim, and originally stood on N. Los Angeles St. between Chartres & Cypress Sts. / The building was a gift from Mr. E.E. Beazley and the lot on which it now stands was donated by Marie Horstmann Dwyer in memory of her parents who were pioneers and purchased the land October 1st, 1860. / That the pioneers of Anaheim and what they did for us shall not be fogotten this house is prserved by the Mother Colony Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution"
