Description
Plaza Square, Orange, California, before 1937. Image shows view looking northwest across the Plaza with the Edwards building visible in background at far left. The original three-tiered fountain, decorated with herons, owls and cat-tails, is visible in center of park. This fountain was installed in 1887 and later replaced in 1937 by a tile and electric fountain constructed by the Westinghouse Electric Company. Newly planted rose bushese are visible among landscaping. Image printed across the bottom with promotional text, "Orange is located thirty-nine miles southeast of Los Angeles, fourteen miles from the ocean. Elevation, 200 feet. Population, 3,300. The garden spot of Southern California. Climate superb. Six churches. No saloons. Residence streets lines with beautiful trees and flowers. 'Come to Orange'"
