Description
May Day Parade, City of Orange Mayor Rex Parks and family riding in convertible, Orange, California, 1950. Images shows Mayor Parks, his wife, Marguerite, and their granddaughter, Paula Woods, sitting between them as they are driven down the street. A sign is reading "MAYOR / CITY OF ORANGE" is taped to the car door. Crowds are visible on sidewalk in background. Rex Parks was a councilman, volunteer fireman, and mayor (1958-1960) of Orange. The May Festival, which began in 1933 and also included the May Day Parade, continued to be held until 1991.
