Toriumi regrets that she and Bird did not see each other last week (when Bird and his secretary Olive Hutchison visited the assembly center), and thanks Bird for paying off her brother Ted Tajima's debts with Occidental Collegel. She also expresses concern for the attitude of the Japanese in the camp, and observes the challenges of accommodating the thousands who arrive every week.
