Description
First Christian Church, Orange, California, ca. 1900. Colored postcard image shows corner view of the church after its move to the southeast corner of East Chapman Avenue and South Grand Street, from its original location on East Chapman nearer the Plaza. Unpaved streets visible in foreground. First organized in November of 1882, the congregation sold the valuable land and moved the church to this location after 1887. Additions to the structure were made in 1910 and 1929, with the building remaining in use until 1961 when the congregation moved to Walnut Avenue. Part of the Orange Civic Center now occupies the church's East Chapman and Grand site. Postcard stamped in upper left corner in red ink with "Christian Church, Orange, Calif."
