Description
Cars and trucks are parked around the plaza del toros (bullfight arena) where on this day spectators fill the stands to watch bloodless bullfighting. One of the traditions Portuguese Americans brought to the San Joaquin Valley and the Turlock region is a type of bloodless bullfighting where the participants wear traditionally styled clothing and the bull is unharmed. Manual C. Sousa, of Turlock, in 1981 built the Pico Dos Padres Campo Grande arena in the hills west of Crows Landing.
