Description
In 1887 Samuel A. Bishop began building an electric streetcar line to travel on The Alameda between San Jose and Santa Clara. The Fisher System, using a center rail for power, was chosen due to concerns about the safety of overhead electric wires. Charles Bradley's carriage factory can be seen on the left.
