Description
Henry Fitch Gardner home on the twenty-acre ranch that ran from La Veta Avenue to Santiago Creek along South Glassell Street, Orange, California, ca. 1890. Image shows view of vine-covered home, built ca. 1875. Henri Fitch Gardner was one of the earliest pioneers of Orange, arriving in 1873, and a member of the city's original board of trustees, which later became the City Council, serving from the incorporation of the city in 1888 until 1894. The home is now the site of Holy Family Cathedral. Front of mount board stamped across bottom with "Residence Of H.F. Gardner". Reverse of mount board is stamped with "Issued from / The Head-Quarters Of The A&A Lightining Viewing Company / 137 S. Main Street Los Angeles Cal. / A.H. Rogers Photo. F.H. Rogers Manager"
