Description
Marion Hayes (later, Marion Hayes Cain) portrays Chrysalis in a publicity photo for the Mountain Play production of The World We Live In. This play was first performed at the Mountain Theater in 1935, then as an encore production in 1940. The Mountain Play Association began its annual production in an outdoor amphitheater on top of Mount Tamalpais, Marin County, in 1913. Shows run for several weekends, beginning each May. This image is from a collection of scrapbooks, deposited with the California Room in 1975, by Cain.
