Description
A 1909 Classic Revival style Hip Roof Cottage located at 214 East Palmyra Avenue in Orange, California, August, 2003. Image shows front view of the house, with pyramidal roof extending forward to form a large corner, wrap-around porch supported by classical columns. A modified gambrel dormer is on the front portion of the roof and wide lap siding covers the exterior walls and porch surround. The residence was designed and constructed by Orange Contracting and Milling Company for George J. Schnackenberg. The one and one-half story Craftsman has a gable roof with a front-facing, gable roofed dormer with an ornamentally framed window and louvered vent, and ornamental purlins beneath the eaves. A photograph of the home is on page 21 in the brochure promoting the Orange Contracting and Milling Company, "Beautiful Orange Homes" produced in the early 1920s.
