Description
Black and white photograph of an advertisement for the Casta del Sol retirement community. The advertisement has a picture of an elderly couple, excerpted text of their interview, and a thumbnail map of Casta del Sol's location with respect to the San Diego freeway and major streets in Mission Viejo. In the bottom right hand corner is a tear-off inquiry form that interested parties can fill in with their name and address and send to the Casta del Sol sales office in order to receive more information about the retirement community. The text of the advertisement reads, "For active retirement, 'I don't want anything pushing on me...' Meet Helen and Wally Jones. *Actual interview, February 16, 1974, The Casta del Sol. 'Freedom,' Helen Jones said quietly. 'I have to feel freedom. I don't want anything pushing on me.' 'We only have 3 to 3 1/2 homes per acre,' Wally Jones exclaimed. 'This is a wonderful advantage! We have all these hills.' ' Well, I find it peaceful, shall we say...' Helen mused. ' I mean you don't feel as if you're congested. I think it's the way the neighborhood is laid out...' Was it economical living in The Casta del Sol? 'We definitely found this to be more economial,' Wally offered. 'The purchase price in the first place- and also the monthly cost of living here.' Was it like a home town? Wally thought a moment and nodded his head. 'That atmosphere exists here...' he smiled. 'It's just beautiful.' *A copy of the complete, transcribed interview is available to the public for review at The Casta del Sol sales office. Mission Viejo, where 'home' is a 'hometown' again. The Casta del Sol, homes from $30,995 to $52,000. By Mission Viejo Company, builders of America's most successful new communities. Terms and prices are subject to change without notice. 'Equal Housing Opportunities.'" At the bottom of the print is "Job #24-1561, 6 Col x 15", L.A. Times, 4/7/74."
