Title
COURTHOUSE OF 1770 - Built to serve the needs of both the city of Williamsburg and James City County, this structure occupies the center of Court House Green. It replaced an earlier court house which stood near-by. When originally built, the portico was cantilevered to await the arrivals of columns. On account of the unsettled condition before the Revolution, the columns were never delivered. The building stood with out columns until it was partly burned in 1911 after which it was rebuilt with columns. It was restored in 1932 to its earlier appearance and how houses the Archaeological Exhibit of Colonial Williamsburg. Williamsburg, Virginia
