Description
John J. Vignolo had the Turlock Hotel torn down and replaced it with the Hotel Carolyn (named after his daughter) that was completed in 1909. There had been a saloon (bar) in the old hotel and would be one in the new building. This photograph depicts the building that was hauled to Turlock to be used as the "temporary" saloon. The two men on the porch are driving the team. Note the number of reins each is holding. Curley Johnson is on the left and the other driver is identified as Al Lindwall. The other two men who chopped and dug the weeds and large brush out of the way are not identified.
