Description
Transitional Victorian farmhouse style home at 339 East Palmyra Avenue, Orange, California, August, 2003. Image shows front view of the two-story clapboard house with single-gabled roof, built by Mrs. H.L. Davis in 1907, as evidenced by a building permit issued to her at the time for the construction of a $1,500 house. The front facade is defined by a large front-facing gable with a return at the eaves. Entry is via a recessed porch supported by classical columns. The sides of the house have large projecting gabled dormers on the second story, one of which results in an angled bay window on the first story in the living room. Ornamental brackets are present on the front gable base, and support a decorative planter beneath the second-story windows. The house was eventually divided into apartments, but more recent owners have lovingly restored it to a single-family home. Robert and Diane Von Gerichten were the owners at the time of this photograph, and have beautifully landscaped the grounds. The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1997. 3000 x 2000 pixels
