The Placentia Orange Growers packing house, Fullerton, 1895. Men stand amid stacked crates of oranges. Caption at the bottom reads: The Placentia Orange Growers Packing House in 1895 shared jointly with the Walnut Growers, located in Fullerton, California. W. L. Hale foreman: Newman Essick, secretary. The power was produced by a man pumping a pair of bicycle pedals. The brand was stenciled on the end of the packed box and reads "Orange County Fruit Exchange - Placentia." Inscribed on the back of the photo: "W. L. Hale in foreground. Power for the belt was produced by a man pumping bicycle - seated right rear."
