The photograph depicts Edwin Markham at the Oakland Airport after his first airplane trip from Los Angeles, posing with flight attendant Harriet Johnson. Following the flight, he was made the poet laureate of the Aero Educational Research Organization. Johnson made the award. Number in collection : 197.
