East Chapman Avenue in Orange, California, 1909. Image shows view ooking west up unpaved street, with pedistrians walking along sidewalk, Bicycles lean against the curbs, a horse and buggy and early automobile are parked on the street. On the left is signage for "MITCHELL & MASON GROCERS", "WATSON'S DRUG STORE" (118 East Chapman Avenue, a sign for a dentist, and "SMALL & COATE REAL ESTATE" (110 East Chapman Avenue). On the right is "T.M. SHADEL" Furniture (117-119 East Chapman Avenue) and the Bank of Orange is at the corner (101 East Chapman Avenue). A tall flag pole is in the center of the plaza, and in the distance the pointed roof of the Rochester Hotel is visible.
