Description
Pvt. John Aiso was recruited as the chief instructor of the 4th Army Intelligence school that opened in a converted hangar at Crissy Field in the Presido of San Francisco. They added Akira oshida, Shig Kihara, Tetsuo Imagawa, among others to the teaching staff. The first class consisted of 60 (58 Nisei and 2 Caucasians), 45 graduated. 35 of the first class went to Australia, New Caledonia and Alaska. As part of the recruitment, the students were inaccurately told that they would all receive commissions upon completion of the course. There were no commissions for the Nisei upon graduation.
