W. P. A. Adobes vol.
Front view of the Rodriguez adobe on Rancho Santiago de Santa Ana, about 1914. It stood on West Chapman Avenue, "midway between Orana and the Santa Ana river." The house is visible with large trees on the front and right side. The porch and entrance are also visible as well as the windows and roof (gable). A field is visible in the foreground. It was the ranch house of Francisco Rodriguez and likely built by him in the early 1860's. It faced the northwest. Courtesy of Mr. and Mrs. Severance.
