Description
Photo depicts the situation on M Street when the Flood of 1884 covered every street in Fresno. The Fresno County Courthouse is seen in the background to the left. The church seen to the right is the Southern Methodist Church at the intersection of L and Fresno streets. Floods threatened to wipe out Fresno every winter owing to its location as the sink of four creeks, Dry Creek, Red Banks, Dog Creek, and Fancher Creek.
