Description
Flatbed wagons pulled by horses and mules are loaded with boxes of grapes. Lined all the way down Front Street (now Golden State Blvd.) and around the corner onto West Main Street the grapes were being delivered to the railroad cars and packing sheds in Turlock, California, circa 1909. The Hultberg & Lane building is on the left. The Vignolo Building which housed the Hotel Carolyn (Named for John J. Vignolo's daughter) is on the right of the photo. It replaced the Turlock Hotel. A saloon is visible next to the Vignolo Building. It is probably the one pulled by horses to this location for use while the Hotel Carolyn was being constructed.
