Description
Orange Building and Loan Float in "The Old and the New" themed May Festival Parade, May 3, 1938. An Anaconda truck has two model houses, one labelled "1938" and the other "1887" (not visible in this view) on display in the flat bed. A sign hangs along the side of the truck bed reading "51 Years of Home Financing / EST. 1887 / ORANGE BLD'G. & LOAN ASS'N." At the rear of the truck but not visible in this photograph, is signage reading "ORANGE / 'Grew with us.'" Business buildings are visible in background. The May Festival, which began in 1933 and also included the May Day Parade, continued to be held until 1991. [See also P333a] Photographic print B&w 12 x 16.5 cm
