View is of exterior of the front facade and the residence hall of St. Joseph's Catholic Church located at 877 N. Campus Ave., Upland (Calif.). View is looking southwest from Campus Ave. The photograph was taken from Campus Ave. during construction of the new buildings in the mid-1950's The church began in the 1920's as a mission. Emilio Valadez owned the property at 877 N. Campus Ave. and gave it to the Bishop of San Diego on Oct. 24, 1924. A Japanese style barn was relocated to the site and served as the church building until this new structure was built in 1955. A new building was constructed in 1980 on the same site.
