Description
Constructed on the site of the Fountain Hotel, the St. Elmo Hotel was completed in 1908. Rrailroad tracks are visible next to the team of white horses. The hotel was across the tracks from the Southern Pacific Railroad station. At this time the primary method of long distance travel was by train and many passengers found it convenient to have hotels located close to where they exited the trains.
