English miners and their families lived in the settlement of Englishtown. Most of these men and women emigrated from Cornwall. Families lived in company-built homes, which varied in size from four to eight rooms. Englishtown had a school, church, general store, boarding house, and mining office. Text on reverse reads: "English Town, New Almaden Methodist Church and store seen in center"
