Description
DUBLIN SERVICE STATION, 1936. This roadside stand, pictured here in Dublin in the mid-1930s, a precursor to fast-food restaurants, catered to needs of travelers either going to or from the Bay Area. While patrons filled their gas tank, or needed minor repairs at the Dublin Service Station, a coffee shop conveniently situated next door offered people hot dogs, hamburgers, sandwiches, or tobacco while they waited. The local townspeople affectionately referred to it as "The Greasy Spoon." Page 90, Images of America : Dublin, by Mike Lynch and the Dublin Heritage Center.
