Description
Marysville's first motorized fire equipment at the first public exhibit, July 4, 1917. From left to right: Engine # 1, 1000 gpm pumper, Engine # 1, 380 gallon chemical engine. Both engines were built new for the Department in 1917 by American-La France, and both were numbered "1". The horse equipment was abandoned at this date due to the Board of Underwriters ruling. (If the horse equipment had been retained, the City's fire rating would have been drastically lowered.) The displaced equipment was kept in reserve for many years.
