The Anza Trail Monument, located in the Anza—Borrego Desert State Park, commemorates the journey of Juan Bautista de Anza a Spanish colonial explorer and his expedition. In 1776 de Anza lead 300 people to settle in Alta California, today visitors to the Anza—Borrego Desert State Park can follow the 1200 mile route the de Anza expedition forged learning about the expedition from the online source providing maps, audio commentary, historical background, and important sites to visit.
