Description
Accession number: P261 Hotel Valencia, located at 182 West Center Street (corner of Lemon and Center Street, later Lincoln Ave.), Anaheim; built in 1916 by John Ziegler for $40,000 and designed by architect M. Eugene Durfee,on the same site as two previous hotels, the Anaheim Hotel and the Commercial Hotel; image shows corner view of four-story brick hotel and surrounding businesses, with three figures standing on the corner and several automobiles in the street, among them a 1929 Chevrolet Roadster, a 1929 Ford Cabriolet, a 1928 Oldsmobile Sedan, a 1930 American Austin/Bantam, a 1930 Auburn Cabriolet, a 1931 Chrysler Sedan, a 1930 Ford Coupe (with 1933 wheels), a 1934 Chevrolet Coupe, and possibly a 1925/26 Paige or Jewett; signage on building reads "B.F. Spencer" and "Oyster Loaf Cafe" at far lower left, "HOTEL VALENCIA" at center left, and "First National Bank" in corner windows; structure was destroyed by fire in 1977.
